The “Well-child” first exam.

This general appointment is designed to assess the child and their current oral and dental development. It’s usually for babies or young toddlers and is centred around introducing your little one to the environment, the team, and a new experience.

In this appointment we look at facial and oral development, any special medical considerations and then often we spend the remainder of the time discussing your child’s oral health routine, brushing and cleaning techniques, and we will implement further education if required. We’ll perform a clean or treatment if necessary, but some children aren’t prepared for this level of engagement on the first visit so this will only be carried out if urgently required – as a team we will judge the child’s capacity for treatment and will, if necessary, rebook.

Every patient is unique - Dr John has been known to carry out assessments in the carpark for special needs children who find entering the clinic too scary and uncomfortable! Rapport and relationship building is at the forefront of your first visit.

The referred patient appointment.

This appointment is for children who have been referred to us by a medical practitioner or general Dentist for specialised treatment and care. Your child’s appointment is tailored to address the reason for their referral. To build trust and rapport with your child, you can expect the same level of care at introducing your child to our clinic as in our well child welcome visit. After all, the first time somewhere new is always scary!

Our team of friendly dentists and therapists are here to help your family every step of the way.

Your child’s appointment is tailored to their personality and age.

Our team will structure your visit to ensure your child can become familiar with the clinic and with everyone who will be looking after them. Your child is encouraged to feel comfortable and safe and we always allocate enough time to answer as many questions as possible.
